2031 TEAM - Rising 10U
Kevin Deans
Head Coach
Background:
Coach Kevin was born and raised in the Hudson Valley, about 50 minutes North of New York City. The area was a hotbed for many ball players producing many MLB players. Needless to say, Kevin was thrown into baseball at a young age. Throughout school, Kevin played baseball and basketball competitively. He made a state champion team’s varsity program (Cornwall HS, NY) as a freshman pitching and playing first base. His sophomore season he decided to go to a private school in New Market, VA called Shenandoah Valley Academy where he played basketball for 3 years and started to get into music as well. Upon graduation he decided to attend Washington Adventist University in the DC area on baseball scholarship. Due to some unforeseen circumstances Kevin left the college after the summer in the middle of the first semester. Shortly thereafter, he was in a bad car accident in which he broke his back and leg. Although Kevin was blessed by a full recovery months later, he had decided to move on from his baseball career and was then inspired by business and music.
Many years later as his son fell in love with baseball, he rediscovered his passion for the game and started coaching travel ball in Northern VA. He currently is the Head Coach/Manager of Cavalry Baseball’s 9U team who has had much success due to Coach Deans’ coaching philosophy of developing players (giving every player ample playing time and coach attention in practice to properly develop all players), creating a team first culture with the team and the parents and helping the team learn valuable morals and values that can help them on and off the field as they go through life. At 9U the team worked so hard and earned 4 Tournament Championships and was ranked the #8 9U team in VA for 2022 . Look forward to another great season in the fall!
