Derek Nagel
Head Coach
Background:
Coach Derek is a Berks County Pennsylvania native, growing up 35 miles northwest of Philadelphia. He grew up playing baseball, basketball, football, and running track & field.
Derek joined the United States Marine Corps, straight out of high school, where he served for 5 years. His professional career includes being a Department of State (DoS) and Department of Defense (DoD) contractor, before converting to a Federal Civilian at the DoD, and now works at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). During his 27 years of experience across the military, private sector and government, he’s served in various management and leadership roles.
Derek is a dedicated husband and father of two (11 and 10 years old) boys. His wife, Marcie, is an Air Force veteran and the owner/CEO of a small business cyber security firm during the day and baseball mom in the evenings and on weekends, from spring through fall. Derek enjoys coaching his children’s sports year-round, traveling worldwide and staying in shape. He’s ran 11 full marathons and countless half marathons, 10k,
5k and other races. He’s an avid Philadelphia sports fan, for better or worse. Go Birds!
As the coach of 13U Calvary, his goals are to:

develop well rounded and disciplined athletes who know and love the game of baseball,

continue to build and fine tune mechanics,

institute a regimented strength and conditioning program to prepare the team to,

be competitive on the 60’/90’ field.
